Invincible and Conquest fly towards each other in the final scene of the episode

Well guys, we are here, it finally happened, Invincible vs conquest, well I mean we aren't quite there, it's the next episode, but that doesn't mean this episode wasn't awesome as fuck.

Because there is one thing that this episode does, wear mark down to the point that he finally switches sides and decides that some people simply must die, unless their survival leads to further death, it is like Tanjiro said.

Tanjiro explains his anger on Demons such as Daki
Yes, did I tell you I am a Demon Slayer Fan (>A<)

This episode covers the Invincible war, a section of the comics which directly precedes the greatest challenge invincible has faced till death, some might even say ever, because ultimately even though he faced greater foes later on he himself had grown stronger, therefore it might have been a lesser challenge.

And I am only talking about challenges in terms of combat, not emotionally or psychologically or.... yeah if you have read the comics, you know there is a different kind of challenge that he faces, one that haunts him for a long time and strains his relationship with eve, but okay... no spoilers.

But Conquest is for later, right now let's talk about the alternate Invincibles.

Because believe it or not, they do serve a higher purpose than simply being dark mirrors to invincible and a threat for them to destroy.

The comics made it very clear that many of the Marks are much weaker than this dimensions Mark, the reason being that many of them had already conquered their respective planets, as a result all the competition they had was non existent, but they are still a significant percentage of Invincible's strength and so many of them together definitely pose a threat.

These marks show a single thing, that this Mark's defiance and sticking to his morals, while got him incredibly close to his death is what made him many times stronger, strong enough to face so many of the ways that he could have messed up.

Because that's what these marks are, they are ones that messed up, bad.

Cape invincible murdered his own father
Jeez mark, okay, way to prove my point.

But another thing that threats like these pose is a chance for everyone to come together, nothing unites people better than a shared grief.

Yes, grief can cause some very bad things, at the end of the day, all of these invincible variants are dealing with grief in a very unhealthy way, for some of them it is very obvious, like the balaclava wearing invincible who just wants to meet his mother again.

One alternate Mark wants his mother

Angstrom Levy is also dealing with the Shared grief of all his alternate selves, that he now carries as his own, it poisons him to the point of causing destruction on a Global scale just to get back at Mark.

But even more than that, I believe he wants to die, he wants to die but he wants to die fighting, and believing that he was doing good fighting Mark, his grief has poisoned him to the point that this is now his purpose.

Mark Catches Angstrom Levy in a death grip.

Another example of someone letting their Grief get the better of them, and causing unnecessary destruction is power plex from the last episode, who is present in this one hating mark just as before, leading to him being restrained and put back in prison.

Somehow his lack of power saved him from going all Angstrom Levy.

Grief is a strange thing.

Power Plex faces invincible again.

It is therefore very poignant that many other heroes are introduced in this episode, that previously we all thought couldn't actually appear due to rights issues.

Heroes such as Tech Jacket, brit and business baby.

Business Baby Grunting(you will get the joke if you have closed captions on)

Tech Jacket especially is very interesting as in the comics, his power rivals even the Viltrumites, and it does here as well, why wasn't the GDA using him? Well, I guess because he wasn't here, in the end he flies towards Earth, so maybe he will show up in the next episode.

Which is strange cause I do not remember Tech Jacket coming to help in Invincible's fight with conquest, I believe it would either have gone a lot smoother or Tech Jacket would have been more roughed up.

Tech Jacket after he has killed Moustache Mark.

But the thing is, all his scenes are pulled directly from the comic panels, and he was a prominent earth bound hero in the comics, or maybe I have to reread his story...

Because Cecil didn't use him much in the comics either if I remember correctly, it was only Omni Man who recognized Tech Jacket's potential and recruited him, strange how that worked out...

But... already too many spoilers...

There isn't much more to say in this episode other than, Rex never got to help Rae move her apartment.

Rex explodes his skeleton

This would have been a good place to end it, this is a spoiler discussion, If you are reading this, you should have already seen the show, but a) I don't do good place to end it, and b) I have a question.

Why doesn't Rex explode the mark variant directly?

I guess he needs hard things and to be in direct contact with them?

but I have a better guess, whatever gives him his powers, is grafted onto his nervous system and skeleton right, so maybe exploding his skeleton is causing a bigger bang than if it was the alternate Mark...

Idk spit-balling here, because you know, he dies regardless, and if it is his skeleton, he has no chance of surviving but Mark does and if Mark directly explodes, well he Explodes so that's the end of that story.

Unless of course I am missing something... which is why my theory is that exploding his skeleton does give him a better chance, or it really is his only move.

I think the former is true, because his skeleton is much smaller than the piece of the floor he exploded earlier and still it caused a bigger explosion.

Damn, this guy died and all I can think of are questions.

Poor Rex, you'll be remembered, the fact that he was this close to having his happily ever after right before his death makes this so much worse, especially considering the douchebag origins he had.

Another thing that I will say is, X-Men 97 almost definitely picked Gambit's death from here.

Gambit kills the giant Sentinel.

There too he dies being this close to finding out that his girl is indeed his forever and dies from a wound to the side of his abdomen which he uses to explode and destroy something that is a huge threat, like in the case of Gambit literally.

And they do have pretty similar powers, too bad that unlike Gambit Rex is probably gone forever.

Gambit will probably return as Death, as the post credits of 97 showed.

Apocalypse looks at Gambit's queen of hearts card, foreshadowing his Return as Death, a horseman of Apocalypse.
